If it comes to the point of having to push off friends, be they gay or straight...I'm going to kill myself instead. I can't betray my friends like that, and just sluff them off.

Without Sounding Cynical And Cruel (though failing miserably at both):
Don't give up your life for your friends.. You've never been one to put friends before self-security, don't start now.
Especially with such an Extreme pretense.
You may have lost friends in the past to protect yourself, but know you have grown since, and you are better for it.
